The property at Tenuta Calonica has been farmed as a vineyard since 1973 and now forms part of the Società Vinicola Toppetta family. It extends for about 35 hectares in the ‘pieve’ of Valiano, between the storied and famous municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona. It is nestled directly between the prestigious properties of Antinori ‘La Braccesca’ and Avignonesi ‘le Capezzine’ on a hilly ridge at about 350 meters above sea level a few kilometers from Lake Trasimeno. The wines produced fall under the production regulations of important and established DOCG and DOC such as Nobile and Rosso di Montepulciano and the more recent DOC of Cortona. The lands are located at optimal altitudes and exposures and are characterized by a basically clay limestone texture, with occasional sand outcrops.

The influence of Lake Trasimeno guarantees mild winters and not too dry summers and allows the vines to have a regular vegetative cycle. The “Capezzine Vecchie” farm in the Municipality of Montepulciano houses the aging cellars located in the ancient traditional-style farm buildings with the cellar made up ofSlavonian oak barrels of various capacities, while at the “Calonica” farm, in the Municipality of Cortona, are found the winemaking and bottling facilities with a modern structure and concept.
