Poggio alla Sala’s name is connected to many historical elements that are representative of the territory of Montepulciano. The strategic position of the hill facing the Valdichiana and its proximity to the Comunes of Chiusi and
Chianciano made it of great interest as far back as the Etruscan epoch. Evidence of this can be seen in numerous
finds, many of which are related to the production, conservation and consumption of wine and oil, preserved in
important national and international museums. At one time the property was owned by the Bonci Casuccini family,
enlightened entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves in several sectors and collected important awards and
acknowledgements at the end of the 19th century. The Gattavecchi family, historical merchants of Vino Nobile,
enthusiastically continued to nurture this tradition until 2022 where they passed the baton off to the Toppetta family who will now strive to make Poggio alla Salla a shining gem in the crown that is vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
